Ten on Tuesday

Chelsea and Roots and Rings is still as her Ten on Tuesdays and todays edition asks about the holidays.

1. What are your plans for the holidays? Do you travel at Thanksgiving? If you celebrate Christmas, do you travel then, too?

Normally there is alot of traveling for us at the holidays but this year everyone is coming to us. We are hosting the IL's on thanksgiving, the IL's Christmas dinner the Sunday before Christmas and my family is coming to stay for Christmas and my MIL and FIL will come for dinner. 

2. How do you make the plans for the holiday? If you have a significant other, how do you decide which family to visit?

I am lucky that my husband and his family are easy going. His mother does not expect much for Thanksgiving get togethers and years ago decided that instead of having her sons drive all over the world on Christmas to do their Christmas early.

3. Do you have your Thanksgiving meal at lunch or later in the day?

Normally @ 2 so that you can graze all day on food. Appetizers come out @ 12 and the bird around 2.

4. Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
Eating is my favorite Thanksgiving tradition. <----I agree Chelsea!

5. After a big meal do you lounge around or get up and take a walk?
I circle the food table numerous times. Does that count as a walk?


6. Do you shop on “Black Friday” or do you avoid it?
Yes I normally get 90% of my shopping do this day. I have gotten great deals on big things to like my washer and dryer last year and a plasma TV 6 years ago.

7. When do you usually finish your Christmas shopping?
Early -Mid December. I like to see everything wrapped under the tree for a bit before it all goes out.

8. Do you and your significant other exchange gifts? Is there a budget?
To a degree, we tell each other was we want and I like to wrap stuff but Hubs like to give it right away even if it is in the beginning of November. This year we are not doing much for each other cause it has been the year of giving with a new house, all new furniture, etc.


9. When do you decorate for the holidays?
We started last weekend only cause we are nuts and have alot of stuff to put up.


10. Do you go “all out” with the decor or do you keep it simple?
All out. When we built the house we had plugs put in the soffets with a light switch at the front door, and extra amps just for Christmas lights. Yes we are those people. We have over 6000 light outside, 21 characters from Rudolph the red nose reindeer cut out and painted front and back from wood we made, 5 Christmas trees outside, 5 inside, 3 wreaths, and countless other thing I have put out. I also am waiting on a "fra-gile" shipment to finish out our decor. This is our favorite time of the year.

I promise I am alive! Between the new job and going out of town for Hubs 30th tomorrow I am beat!

1. What book, movie or song has made you want to travel to a particular place? (eg. I went to Prince Edward Island because I was such a Anne of Green Gables fan)
Hmmm, probly some more Caribbean islands after reading Jimmy Buffett

2. Aside from your significant other, who would you want to take with you on a dream trip?
Depends on where shopping in New York Dre, and girls weekend in Vegas Christa

3. Where would said dream trip be to?
Somewhere without children running me over like on our honeymoon

4. If you were hosting guests or providing tips, what three things would you show visitors to your hometown? (be it where you live now or where you grew up)
1. Oasis at Lake Travis for sunset

2. Casino El Camino on 6th for verde chili cheese fries

3. South Congress to see the neat shops and up to the capital

5. If you had a long weekend ahead of you, where you head – beach, city or country/mountains?
Toob the river with a live show thrown in the mix

6. Do you have a passport? If so, did you get it for a particular trip or just to have, in case?
I do, I just mailed it back to get it changed to my married name

7. Are there any travel souvenirs you collect? If not, is there something else you collect?
Christmas ornaments

8. If you could name a paint colour, what colour would it be and what would you call it?
Ummm..paint

9. If you were heading away for a weekend citybreak solo, where would you go? (forget about practicality here and flight times, assume you can get to any city in the world for the weekend)

10. Is there a song or a smell or something that you strongly associate with a particular holiday/place/time, such that it always takes you back?
Not really

Ten on Tues Take 4

This one had some different questions than norm but fun none the less!

1. Quick! Zombies are coming!! What do you do? I just watched Zombieland so I now know all the rules, I need a gun and a hummer!

2. Whew, that was a close one. …I think your phone is ringing. Oh, it’s your best friend! She thinks she’s been bitten by a zombie. What advice do you give her? Stay away from me so I don't have to shoot you ;)

3. You realize it’s time to leave your current location because it’s clearly not safe anymore. Are you going to move at night or day? Defend your reasoning. Day so I can see the bloodsuckers coming

4. During your relocation, you come across a weapon superstore. My, that’s convenient. What kind of weaponry do you choose? All please never know when you will need more ammo, and that is why I now have a HUmvee

5. As you leave, an old lady on the side of the street begs you to help her. Do you? Why or why not? Is she speaking english (or any true language) then yes but if she is babbling sorry grammy, you too just became target practice.

6. Good choice, you’re clearly a good person to have around in a zombie apocalypse. Oh hey, there’s a wifi signal here! You can’t stay long but this is your chance to gather some intel on the current situation. What’s the first website you check? Facebook, if you can update your status you are not deadlike!

7. SHH! What was that noise?! Rats, and roaches they live thru anything!

8. I think it’s time to get out of here. I hope you have a plan. Where are you going now? Disneyland, why not? NO line!

9. Wait a minute, that looks like a bite mark on your arm… You may be infected too! Will you tell other people? No cause I have no one as a solo warrior.

10. How does this story end? It is a cliffhanger to be continued.....BUt I am a good guy so you know I will be in the sequel :0)

Ten on Tuesday take 3

This ten on Tues had me thinking.

1. Of your current hobbies, which would you choose to spend more time, money, and effort on? Why? Sadly all hobbies have slipped by the way side with crazy work schedules and the move. I would like to travel more and for the hubs have some of those travel plan include some fishing for him. More live music shows that we both enjoy.

2. List the two other hobbies/habitual activies (not chores) besides the one listed above that you regularly do now and didn’t choose in question one. Geesh, umm probly decorating and cooking. Have not really been doing much of that lately.

3. Why are you spending time on the above two hobbies/habitual activies at all if you really wanted to spend your time on the first one you chose? …or to put it another way, what are these two hobbies/habitual activities fullfilling that the first one doesn’t if you don’t want to put all your effort into the first hobby? Because we have to eat and I like to have a pretty home that I am in all the time. And by cooking I mean trying new things not just the routine dinners.

4. Ready John 3:16 in the bible… In what way does this passage affect you? What are your feelings towards these words, positively or negatively? "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."- My thoughts are that God gave selflessly to our world and our race. With your believe in God one will grow and thrive.

6. Putting away the feeling of pride being a bad thing; what secretly/openly are you proud about yourself? Being able to make changes. I was very afraid of big changes but I know I can do it.

7. Given one room in the house to do with what you want, not changing the actual size of the room and with all the money you would need, what would you do, and be specific? (this can range from bouncy floor,walls & ceilings; to hard wood floor with wood paneling and purple ceiling with a chair; to nothing)- I want new master bedroom furniture, something that is my and the hubs and is not anything we had from before. I have to wait til we get a new house thou..

8. What’s the next movie you’re going to see? Not what you’d LIKE to GO see, but the next movie you realistically are going to watch. Probly something on the redbox, Thou I want to go see Valentines day and Alice in wonderland

10. What makes you cry? What makes you pray? What makes you laugh? Bad dreams like the one I had last night, I pray to do the right thing and for guidance from god, and My hubs makes me laugh all the time.

Ten on Tuesday take 2

1. If you were given an hour to use a $200 Amazon gift card, what would you buy? Oh either makeup or a Coach purse

2. Are there any fairly common foods that you’ve never had? I eat everything but there are some veggies I have never had, like butternut squash or acorn squash

3. What was your favorite way to use your imagination as a kid? Barbies, I never was a big play house kid but boy oh boy I played some barbies!

4. What’s your favorite state? Why?Texas, I have visited a few others and there is something so great about coming home to Texas

5. If it was our culture to have our parents choose our spouses, do you think yours would make a good choice?Um depends. I know they would not pick my ex husband but not sure they would pick P either. lets just be glad I got to pick ;)

6. What’s your favorite herb?Garlic, is garlic and herb per see? I love it, it goes in EVERYTHING!

7. If you could have dinner with one celebrity, who would you choose?Jessica Simpson, I am sorry I have a she crush and I really think she is not the dumb blonde most think.

8. What’s your favorite Disney movie?Peter Pan hands down, hello I have a tinkerbell tattoo on my shoulder.

9. If you had to listen to the same song over and over for 24 hours, what song would you choose? It would probly have to be a TX country song, maybe who I am by wade bowen or something by Reckless Kelly

10. How do you order your steak?Rare, I would like to put a bandaid on it and send it back to the pasture

1. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? I love Blue Bell's strawberry and mexican praline I love Dryer's Samoa with is the girl scout cookie Carmel delight

2. What is your earliest memory? I remember when I was @ 3 I would sing a goodnight daddy or mommy song every night to my parents. I think it was a stall to go to bed!

3. What is your earliest memory of a dessert? My birthday cake when I was 4 was a raggedy anne cake

4. Do you have any recurring dreams? Yes thou I have not had one in a long time

5. Have you ever dreamed about dessert? Ha you would think being married to an Ice cream man but no

6. What is one thing (aside from a cell phone or computer) that you cannot go the entire day without? softlips (the chapstick stuff)

7. What is one dessert you could go your entire life without ever having again? flan, I don't get it I love Carmel but not a fan of flan At.All.

8. If you could go on vacation tomorrow, where would you go? I would go to here. I tried to convince a friend to get married here just so we had an excuse to go. Maybe a anniversary/30bday/babymoon?

9. If you could have any dessert tomorrow, what would you have? Walden Yacht Club cherries Jubliee made tableside, or Banana's foster

10. What was your first impression of your significant other? If you’re single, what was your first impression of your best friend? Tall, horrible dresser (sorry honey) handsome.

11. What is your first impression of dessert pizza? Funny you should ask because I make a fruit pizza dessert that I won many cookoffs dessert challenges with. But the "pizza dough" is sugar cookie and the sauce is cream cheese and strawberry glaze. Not your average pizza!
